Hi Jackie, Im so sorry your having a rough time. Its like your doing what they say to do and your getting screwed. You take med after med and they dont work. I felt this way also!!! I really dont know what to say to make you feel better. I have no idea about that tea link I put up. It looked interesting and had good info. I am going to start saying what I think and dont care who gets pissed off. I go to a lot of boards and dont say what I think. But if your thinking of getting off the lex at least try this. If your side effects are really unbearable try cutting the dose in half for awhile. This may help you try the med longer. Or hang in there at the dose your on. I swear to you a few months I was sucidal and could not stop crying. You can go back and look at my old posts. It was the worst I have ever felt in my life!!!!!! But the lex kicked in and I pray it will for you also. Try as hard as you can to hang in there another 2 or 3 weeks. Also your thyroid can cause depression. Im praying for you Jackie!!! GOD BLESS!!!

Hi there, I cant give advice on the paxil since my bad experience was an allergic reaction. I dont want to try to talk you into staying on the lex. But I will say Im at about week 16 and Im losing more anxiety each week. But I also suffered bad panic attacks begore the lex. Here are messages about paxil, just run through them and you can get some info from people tht are taking it. One more thing you wont know if paxil will work unless you try it. No matter how many good or bad things you read its their experience and not yours. It might be the right med, nobody can tell you for sure!! GOOD LUCK!!

> Tim47Hi Tim, headaches could be caused by stress, the lexapro or the klonopin. Im guessing you cut back on the lex to 10mg 2 weeks ago. The klonopin is some strong stuff and I could not handle it. I have a half brother who takes 1mg to sleep at night and he wakes up with that lethargic feeling and he also takes zoloft. Like I just posted Im at 16 weeks and still losing anxiety slowly. But like I said my anxiety I believe stems from fear because of panic attacks. I would like to say in the next 4 weeks you should be getting relief from everything. But we dont know for sure. Have you gotten anything for the headaches that may be a little stronger than you can get at the store. How do you take your doses of the klonopin. Twice a day or do you break up further than that. I used to take about 2.5mg xanax at first and then just cut pieces off when I needed them most. I now take xanax only at night. Some people take more klonopin than you do. But the real goal is to one day be free of the klonopin except for stressful times. Have you tried a heating pad for your neck to relieve the headaches or ice. Getting to sleep the right time I know can be hell. The pdoc can prescribe a sleeping pill that mixes with the meds real well. I have refused it myself. I probably have not said anything here to ease your mind. But if the med is going to work the next 4 works everything should get better. Always write your questions down before you see the pdoc so you dont forget anything. GOOD LUCK!!!

I'm getting the tension headaches, too. I've been using a generic analgesic ointment (like Flexall or Bengay) on my neck and upper back for the muscle tension. I also take Robaxin when needed - it's a prescription muscle relaxant. The combination has been working pretty well.

I will start using a heating pad and ice, as appropriate. I have used Klonopin for ten years. Loved it until it became less useful the past six months. Got it from a Gp. Went to pdoc to see what to do and he said Lex as Klonopin gets really bad for the elderly (I'm 57). Wayne, my wife thinks this reaccurance is stress from seeing my mother this past weekend and early week. She is going blind and needed some assistance. Strange to me that these symptons would return after I lowered the dose and they went away. I will just have to see. Thanks.

Try taking two benadryl before bed. I do this. It works great and you don't wake up feeling groggy. Make sure you don't buy the non-drowsy formula. soreness like when it is that time of the month.

i have found that the pBabble search does not search posts AFTER June 27, 2002.
that's why i recommend using the browser's "Find" function instead, but it will only search what is in one window.....
alternatively, we should be able to use Google to search pBabble by entering our terms as "breasts site:dr-bob.org", but i have not given this a shot yet.

HI. I took Paxil and most recently Paxil CR and had good results vs. anxiety/dep. I have more generalized anxiety as opposed to anxiety attacks, etc., and it worked well....I was just tired of diminished libido and my dr. suggested trying Lexapro. I've been on it a little over 3 weeks and SEs have lessened and I feel pretty good on it so far. Hope that helps! Kate

Help!! Today I woke up like a frieght train was going through my head at 5 am and finally threw up at 5:30 (sorry people,I know that's gross) which then led to a slow departure of the pain. At the same time, I'm currently taking an antibiotic(levaquin) for a wicked sinus infection on the left side of my head. My ear, nose and throat doc first prescribed Lomig 1-2 tabs 1xaday but I read that you should not take the med within 24hrs. of taking a serotonin type drug! So, I called him back and he gave me fiorecet which doesn't work so good. I pray this migraine is not lexapro related. I once took celexa for a day (had to stop because of nausea and vomiting). But, I've been taking lex for 2 1/2 weeks now.... I'm going to go say a prayer for me and all of us... and then watch Moulin Rouge, I love that movie!! Have a good night... Jackie

i am interested that you left effexor for lexapro because i read of folks going the other direction which i have considered, very hypothetically, and i have received discouragement from former effexor users ... ....( memeory fails, maybe it was you?) ... while reading posts by contented effexor users .... .... think there's something to the SSRI vs. SNRI comparison?
OR ... ... is it more like: "WHO THE BL*NK CARES! ... GET ME OUTTA HERE !!!!"

this "fabulous combo" of withdrawal PLUS adaptation SEs has so many sufferers and so many repeat sufferers as folks struggle to find their ... ...
key.some folks i have read have gone through all the med options and found nothing ....

they are the ones my heart goes out to ...in a way, we are trying to change our own brain chemistry, and ECT treatments try to do very much the same thing, and i think in many ways we (many of us) suffer much of the violence that ECT treatments inflict, but only drawn out over weeks (months?) at a lower intensity ....
... ... here's an analogy:
taking anti-depressants is like doing surgery on yourself ... ... well, no,... wait, ...it's like your pdoc is doing surgery on your Self .. ...
... no, no .... ... pdoc is "doing" the surgery, but he gives you the scalpel for the actual ...<<<... ahem! all you cutters!!! **THIS IS A METAPHOR !!!** .. no actual cutting is implied!!>>>
INSTEAD of surgery, on the organs and tissues ...
... we are doing 'surgery' on our intersynaptic junctions and our neurotransmitters using our ADs as our 'scalpels' ...... .... on our most sensitive parts
(our neurons' receptor sites).......... inside our brains,
(ironically, where otherwise we can "feel" no pain on the ordinary surgery scale of tissue and sense organs)... ... and throughout the CNS, throughout Our Entire BODY!.....
.... and we aren't getting any good anesthesia !

anyway my analogy is my attempt to try to get us a coneptual grasp on why we suffer so much pain when we have to adjust to ADs.

actually, i have had migraines in my past, however they were attended by not very much pain .... another story for another time ... perhaps.
if you get the stength for it:
a very long shower with very hot water (i'll use up all our hot water for this), followed very cold water rinse until you are cooled down as much as possible.
(might not be best if you're at risk for heart problems!)..
... however, this will arrange my circulation and stimulate blood flow and open up my sinuses beter that anything ... short of exercise ..(!)
... or jalapenos.(?)(oh no! what if people start posting here about EXERCISE !!!! AAAAAGGGHHHHH!!!) <<just kidding!>>
