Just wondering if anyone had heard of this. Some people on the Alternative Babble haven't felt well on fish oil, but Omega 3, and vitamin E in moderation, shouldn't hurt.

Mystic...
Not sure how much to take. I take two capsules of E and 2 Fish Oil, I just got the vitamins so its whatever side is normal. I feel a TON better since stopping the calcium. I talked to a dietition who said there was no way it was the calcium but I have read other things that say you can have too much calcium, I think I may have been taking too much. I bought some magnesium oxide but am scared to take it because I have such weird reactions to stuff...uggghhh. Oh well, I just want to lose my 6lbs. I am waking up before work to go running so hopefully I will get back on track. I have also been eating much better so hopefully....
God Bless,
Lexy

I was really antsy and anxious when I tried it. Has it affected you like this at all?

Simus..
Thanks for the info. I have such strange reactions to stuff. Who knew taking too much calcium could make me feel so bad, who knew taking the birthcontrol pill could shatter my world. Oh well, at least I know to be careful! I bought some magnesium oxide but am too scared to take it because of my weird reactions....I'm weird but at least I am pretty happy.
God Bless,
Lexy
PS..How are things on Wellbutrin, I know you were feeling a little up then life took over and down you were feeling, here's hoping your on the up!

Could I butt in and suggest that you start them on different days, so that if you do have a bad reaction, you will know which one it is. Even better, Lexy, (none of my business, of course), but could you search "fish oil" on Babble and just read what problems people have had with it? I am just concerned because you are so sensitive to calcium.
> I feel a TON better since stopping the calcium. I talked to a dietition who said there was no way it was the calcium but I have read other things that say you can have too much calcium, I think I may have been taking too much.
Gotta love all the "experts" out there. It is not unusual at all to have too much calcium. I just have never heard of it causing depression, but it really doesn't take much sometimes to throw our brains off balance.
> I bought some magnesium oxide but am scared to take it because I have such weird reactions to stuff...uggghhh.
It's completely different from calcium, and you just may have good results with it. I did. It's worth a try, since you already have it.
If you have blood-sugar ups-and-downs, and cravings for sweets, try chromium picolinate. It helps regulate blood-sugar.

Thanks for asking. I am on 150mg of Wellbutrin (and 1mg Xanax) still, and doing great! I deal with moderate insomnia, but that is soooo minor compared to the fact that I am ALIVE again!I have some physical issues to deal with from being soooo sick for the past 4 months. I spent a lot of time vegitating/sleeping during that time. Now I not only have even more weight to lose than before Lexapro, but the added weight and inactivity caused lower back pain and edema in my legs and feet(which is also painful). The solution to it all is exercise, but it hurts so much to move sometimes that it takes my breath away. I am just building myself up a little every day, and slowly I am seeing improvement. I just have never been great with being patient, and it is frustrating that now that I am mentally stronger, I can't do everything I want to do.

I was so anxious for so long that I was not eating much, I got on the scale the other morning and saw I had gain 6 lbs in a month. I have been eating well and lost a pound. I am just freaking out, I do not want to get fat~ Does anyone know anyway to lost weight on SSRIs. I seem not to have gain on 10mg but have since going up on my dosage, I am going to cut down on my doseage when I get home but do not want to go home looking like a lard!!!!!!

> LexyHi Lexy,
I am on two antidepressents so the weight issue is a concern for me. I am going to weight watchers which is much healther & easier to do than the Adkins. I have been able to keep my weight under control. I've lost 5 pounds in a little over a month. For some the Adkins works but I couldn't do it. Good luck.

I just started back on my points Tuesday and have already lost a 1.5lbs.I am hoping to lose 4 by the end of next week getting back to my happy weight! Good luck on weight watchers, it is awesome. I can't wait to move home and find a good group to get into.

Journal of Clin. Psychopharmacology, August 2001
Drug Interactions With Grapefruit Juice: An Update.
Greenblatt, David J. MD."Drug interactions with grapefruit juice will occur after a single exposure to a usual dose (such as a single 8-ounce glass). There may be variations in the extent of drug interactions depending on the source and method of preparation of grapefruit juice. Duration of exposure to grapefruit juice also is of importance. There is evidence that CYP3A inhibition may increase with repeated doses of grapefruit juice, 29 although the effect of exposure for longer than 7 to 10 days is largely unknown.
Public Health Implications
As with many issues involving the relation of prescription medications to food products or to herbal medicines, media coverage and reporting has often been excessive and unbalanced. It now is possible to evaluate the problem of grapefruit juice interactions with prescription drugs in the context of a realistic assessment of risk. Although some drugs are affected by an interaction with grapefruit juice, most are not. Individuals taking unaffected drugs may continue to take grapefruit juice with no hazard or problem. In most cases, the medications that are affected have been identified or can be predicted based on their established pathways of metabolism and pharmacokinetic properties. For patients taking medications known to interact with grapefruit juice, there generally are noninteracting alternative medications within each drug class that should allow appropriate treatment to proceed safely with no need to avoid grapefruit juice or any other as-yet-unidentified food or natural product that may interact with CYP3A through similar mechanisms. Nonetheless, it must be recognized that it will never be possible to perform a clinical study to confirm or rule out the possibility of an interaction of grapefruit juice with each and every drug that we would like to know about. Basic and clinical research on the subject will continue, and will address such questions as whether grapefruit juice influences the function of transport proteins (such as P-glycoprotein) that may contribute to determining oral bioavailability of some drugs. Ultimately, the management of actual or potential drug interactions with grapefruit juice (or with any other agent) in clinical practice requires a balance of therapeutic judgment together with a knowledge of the science."
