Okay - Sorry Wayne, Jim just won the "who is funnier contest." Between the 'god bless yous' and the 'anyone got any idea how I can do my lex in lines?' - my vote has to go with the self medicator.

I'm at 20 mgs right now and I've got an appt. in a couple days. I'll tell her that the number 20 gives me anxiety and that I would be much more comfortable with something like 17.274mg and see if she has any suggestions.

I'm glad someone else is making a hobby out of this....

Ciao,
Lex

Hi Jim, you got me laughing again, not at you but with you. I have a hammer for the pill smashing. Sounds reasonable to go UP 5mg for a start or even 2.5mg. If your going for anger management dont want you getting frustrated trying to cut that little pill into 10 equal pieces. I will stay at my 7.5mg!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The hell I went through is as fresh in mind as if it were yesterday. Some people tell me I could probably get off my med. Not a chance and to much of a chance. Why quit something that I cant even tell Im taking. Like taking an aspirin!!!!!!!!!!!! TAKE CARE!!!!!!!!!

Wow! It seems you're having a lot of complications~~sorry to hear that! Have you heard back from your doctor yet? Doesn't sound like a good thing to me that you feel this way. I'm sorry to hear this. I am on my 4th week of Lexapro and had some side effects in the beginning but nothing near to what you described. I would heed your doctors advice for sure and please take care.

> I have been on efexxor for almost 3 years and was changed to Lexapro a few days ago...I don't know if the problems I'm having now are from the change in med's or what but God theres a lot of them. If someone could let me know I would appreciate it. I was fine the first 2 days but on the 3rd day...lightheaded, short of breath, dizzy, shakey, heart running away..like I was having an anxiety attach that I couldn't control...I went to bed it was so bad and then all hell broke loose...dream's that I couldn't breath, that I was having a heart attack and on and on until I woke my self up and then the other side effects hit again....this is the 4th day and I did not take it today I went back to the Effexor and have a call into my doctor to find out if that was a good thing or not...any suggestions......oh and I still feel really shakey and all the other side effects are still there I assume they will go away in a couple days or at least I sure hope so...any help or am I going completely psycho????? hey Wayne!

i'm planning ... .... IF IF IF ... i ever decide (!)
to go up ... (get this!)
One milligram per WEEK ! (HA!)
... could even make adaptation ... worse ! (?)
... so once i get your hammer (eew! lexapro crumbs all over the kitchen! yuck!) ... and make me my lex powder (Yum!) then i should be weighing out 1 mg doses to add to my regular 10mg ...
... so like 11mg for a week
... 12mg the next week ... et cetera ...
... pretty nutty, huh?

... aw, it's all just a theory ... for now ...
... i really like making our depressed lex users LAUGH!! ... even At me is okay, but i know You are on my side
... just like i know you're on mine ...

(Alexis: Wayne IS the FUNNY one!! ... really!! ... Vote for Wayne !!) ... !! ... (HA! HA! HA!)

so, anyway, i'm NOT (NOT!) going to snort my lex lines!!
Honestly! ... ... some people!!

(do you think i'd get off?) ... (AGH! AH ! HA!!)

Keep On Laughing!! (it is good medicine!)

hi melley:-) I hear you!! On my 4th week of Lexapro~~I still get sleepy when I take it in the AM, but I still get insomnia also. I just increased Lamictal to 50mg at night and last night I slept better without taking an OTC sleeping pill.
A lot of threads here on Lexapro. I hope you find what you're looking for:-)
Take care.

> I switched from effexor (with awful withdrawal effects), to wellbutrin, which I loved (but had a bad reaction), now to lexapro. Have completed 8 days at 5 mg and am now up to 10mg. So far I just feel sleepy and more relaxed. Think the sleepiness must be from the med as I slept for 4 1/2 hours during the day the other day. That is not normal sleepiness. Hope that goes away. Good to find a place to learn more about it. So far, so good.

Hi :-) Everyone is different with these meds as I'm sure you'll get that consensus here:-) so I'm not sure anyone can tell you how long the nausea will last, unfortunately. I do know that a few here have had to decrease their dosages of Lexapro from 10mg down to 7.5mg and some down to even 5mg because of intolerable side effects. Is that an option for you?

hi Gal, hi Koko,

Gal reminded me that i took 10mg of Lexapro (i'll never forget this date) March 6th ... it was my first dose ....
... i freaked at my SEs so bad that i went down to 5mg the next dose and i stayed there for a _month_ before i went back up to 10mg ...
... 5mg is a pretty stiff dose of this medicine, when you consider how hard the SEs can hit you (and did hit me!)

... i figure the pharma (forest labs) can only do so many trials ... so they tested it at 10mg and 20mg ... ... now they have to tell the MDs "start 'em at 10 and give 20 if that don't work" .... .... <<Grrrrrrrr!>>
.... .... i'd like to give them 10mg of lexapro!! ... ... what do you want to bet they have don't have to take lexapro?

... i am just about ready to do my own trial ... on myself ... i'm thinking i want to try titrating up .... ... very slowly ...

definitelty consider lowering your dose ...

.... However, i also went through another set of SEs when i bumped up from 5mg to 10mg ... ... so, did i just stretch out the total amount of SE suffering over 2 steps, instead of one? ... ... No Such Thing As A Free Lunch, they say ....

all opinions welcomed ... ... please ...
AND
enter our 24/7 essay contest too!
in 12 words or less,
"How I spent a Hundred Years on Lexapro One Night!"
.. ... .. oh, well, better make up your own title ...

Lexapro dose? ... cut back. ... cut down. ... cut up.
whatever you do, don't cut yourself !!! .... Ack!!
<<No SI allowed!!>>

but i digress ....... (HA !! HA !!! HAAAA !!!)
<maybe i should really think about decreasing my lex ... ... i am having too good a time here!!!>

TAKE CARE ! ! !!! !! !

On thursday 8/14 I increased from 10mg to 20mg after seeing my pdoc on 13th, and with his approval. I asked if I should go to 15mg first and he said no, go right to 20mg. So it's been 11 days and I only had a day or 2 of slight dizziness, very mild and bearable. I had a terrible time of it w/se starting out so I was worried it would be almost as bad this time. Glad to say I'm doing much better @ 20mg!! Just something to think about if increasing dose.

Good luck to us all!~~~8|8

Hi Mariposa!

Way To Go, Mariposa! ... ... sure you're not from texas?
... certainly is something to think about!
... now how am i going to do my wimpy titrating up?
... ... ... HA! ... i don't care if i'm a "wimp" or not !
... .. ... i can still stretch it out, if just to see how bad it can be ... ... how bad can it be?

... ... actually, Mariposa, what i'm _really_ wimping out about is the deciding to go up or not ... ... but you are an inspiration ...

Thanks!
