Stopping Celexa

Posted by ghuber on December 29, 2005, at 17:30:34

Well after over a year of taking Celexa, I've decided to stop. I believe the med was making me hypomanic -- a good reason, right?

Anyway, I tapered down and then stopped last thursday. The first few days I felt fine, but started feeling strange a few days ago. Head felt weird, tingling inside my skull, pains inside of my head moving from front to back, periodic shortness of breath. Then last night while laying in bed I had the first panic attack I've had in like 10 months. Rapid heartbeat, anxiety, the freaking out. SUCKS! Fortunately, I was able to dig inside of my head and calm myself down....

I was trying to take fish oil to help ease the pain of coming off, but during the attack last night I decided I just wanted to stop all supplements other then a good multi-v until my chemistry gets back to normal.

Anyone know how long that might take?

Strange thing is, I took Celexa/Wellbutrin for over a year a few years back and when I stopped I don't recall feeling this way -- SSRI discontinuation syndrome?
