Inderal LA tapering

Posted by verne on November 9, 2005, at 17:18:52

I'm currently taking 60 mgs of Inderal LA a day. This is a betablocker and it would be dangerous to stop taking it suddenly. Sudden changes in the dose can cause heart attacks or other heart problems.

Yet, 60 mgs is the lowest dose for the LA or long-acting Inderal. How do I taper that? They are capsules with tiny pellets inside.

I know that inderal comes in lower doses but not time-release. There's a qualitative difference between the two. 30mgs of regular inderal would probably knock me clean out whereas 60 mgs of inderal LA is very smooth and subtle.

Is this one of those drugs you have to take for the rest of your life? My hope is that with the loss of 30-40 pounds my blood pressure will return to normal and I won't need it anymore.
