Hi fire,

glad to hear that effexor is working for you right now - its one of the most beautiful moments when you suddenly realise there is another way to feel in your life.

Yes, effexor does have a 'pronounced withdrawal profile' (i.e. more gnarly stuff happens with this drug than others)though it is different to everyone. There is masses of info on this page about 'tapering' (coming off gradually), use of supplements (see more towards the bottom of the page and posts from apenname and myself, rabble_rouser) and general advice, so have a good look around.

If the drug is working for you, then I would say stick with it. As someone that has tried many different drugs, I know it can be a pain in the a*s trying brand after brand for years waiting for the right one. Just be aware of the things you might expect when you come off, and the things you can do to minimise any effects you might experience.

There are a lot of horror stories out there and I have nothing but sympathy for those going through it - I know how it feels as I have been there many times. But remember, a lot of what you expect in life tends to come to you- so try not to get too hung up on the possibility you might have these bad things happen and just take it day by day.

Blue skies

Ross
