Ah.
I have taken quite a lot of the old magic mushies in my time...
They are similar to LSD but different... but maybe just because the dosage is different (that can be hard to guesstimate).

With ANY hallucinagen you get good trips and you get bad trips and you can also get good trips turned bad. There is an element of risk involved. It is affected somewhat by your expectations of the drug, the environment you take them in etc etc. But there is also an unknown quantity. Just like whether you will dream happy dreams or whether you will have a nightmare...

I have had good trips (boy have I ever)
And I have also had my share of bad trips.
Trips that left me reeling for a couple of days...
Depressed...
Sometimes I would end up having to have a bit of 'time out' in hospital after one of those...
Not because I lost the plot completely but because I was feeling pretty low and ruminating on all sorts of bad stuff.
I have heard of people who have lost the plot completely, though.
But who knows. If that hadn't triggered them maybe that would have happened sooner or later anyway.

My understanding is that the drug makes the neurons release all the stored up neurotransmitter pretty much all in one big hit.
So you get the effects (kind of like dreaming with ones eyes open and still being able to move around).
But that means ones supply of the neurotransmitter has been depleated. It can take a couple of days for things to get back to normal (to make more of the transmitter).

IF you do this. IF you do. Then my advice to you would be to think happy thoughts and focus on the good feeling as much as possible. If you start to feel scaired or creeped out or panicky tell yourself 'it is just the effects of the drug and it will wear off soon' over and over and over. Don't let yourself forget that. Take deep breaths. Do you have good coping strategies for dealing with feelings like that? Because that is what bad trips are all about. Seeing all kinds of crazy sh*t and or thinking all kinds of crazy sh*t - but what gets you in the end (and sometimes this happens without the first two things) is the terror and the panic. You need to be able to control and soothe and handle the fear and stop it from building up...

Ones mind can indeed get up to some crazy sh*t.
That being said... Wild horses couldn't drag me away.
