hospital staffing (nursing)

so apparently the government supplied whatever whatever in extra funding that was supposed to be ring-fenced for more permanent full time nurses to be employed in the hospitals.

and apparently it was frustrating... that they only used about 1/2 the money to employ only about 1/2 as many permanent full time nurses than they were supposed to... and that the rest of the money was (very inefficiently) used to pay temp agencies and to pay overtime.

i imagine the situation goes like this:

there are a few nurses employed full time. with job security. they keep that number low so as to improve their position. then they can offer as much overtime as they want to themselves.

they can also hire temp staff from temp agencies. get them doing the unpleasant jobs or the backbreaking jobs or both. treat them like crap and they'll 'yes sir no sir anything you say sir' if they want to get to work any more shifts at all. oh yes they will... slaving for the chance or whatever for a permanent full time posting where they can treat someone like crap and have them be all 'yes sir no sir anything you say sir'...

that... treating people perceived below you like crap... i think sometimes that's the... ethics test. that the superiors need. they need to see that in you. your potential for that. to do that. before they will allow you to join them. you are just like them, you see. one of them.

anyway...

i think that's the thing of it.

they do simply refuse to hire more permanent full time nurses. the nurses, i mean to say. they won't do it. they want to keep their overtime options. that's made nursing financially... quite good. for a few. with those options. if they want to do the overtime and they can get the shifts... and it isn't such a bad job when they can... sit in the nurses station and get the temps doing the work, even.

so they don't publically advertise the jobs. or they are full of excuses about why those candidates are not eligible for the job. why they can't hire them. they say that they don't get people applying but they won't publically advertise, they won't process their applications, they throw them away on arbitrary grounds and say they 'aren't eligible'. like they do for university and everything else. only enrol the people who cheat and lie and so on becuase we are rule of law (yeah right). sure we are. course. absolutely. you can read it in the judgements of the courts. you can read it in the lack of consequences and lack of sanctions in the judgements of the courts.

justice does not live, here.
