Yay!!!!!!! That's terrific :-)

In Canberra the rental laws are such that you need to have the carpet professionally steam cleaned right at the end of your tenancy. So, you need to plan for all your things to be out in time for them to come in time for the carpet to be dry for the end of your lease so the next lot can move straight on in. You had to supply the landlord with some kind of ticket from the professional steam cleaning service -- you couldn't just do it yourself, or whatever.

I was a big fan of that. It meant that when you moved into a new rental you could feel okay about lying on the carpet and so on. Not having to worry about where the previous tenants rabbits was pooping or about catfood being trampled in or...

We just pretend that if it looks okay, then it must be, in NZ. That's why are having a hard time with the whole 'just because you don't have symptoms doesn't mean you aren't a carrier' thing with Covid. And washing your hands / sanitising your hands even when they don't look dirty.

That being said, there is little more satisfying than seeing how much dirt you collect doing the vaccuming. All the little asthma-inducing particles... Yeah.

My house gets road-soot because I am close to busy roads. I think that is actually what it is. A little bit of coal-dust, effectively. It forms as a black dust on my balcony and I can sweep it up, or whatever. I think I should vaccum more because it likely is carcinogenic.
