Over the years, I have found that the best way to write is just to write. Get words on paper. Period. Even if they're junk. You can edit later. So when you feel paralyzed, just start writing. Even if it's just blather - I'm trying to write this paper on x because I have to and don't have a clue what I'm going to say......
After a few sentences, you may be surprised to find that you're actually getting somewhere you want to go.
It's just like exercise. For me, swimming. I procrastinate and procrastinate and fear I'm not going to be able to do more that a couple of laps, so finally I just force myself to go to the pool. Even if all I do is walk in and look at it then walk out. I just force myself to go in every day and eventually, I get in and build up stamina until it becomes easy.
