yay for jewish people. maybe if we had more of them christmas wouldn't be such a problem in this part of the world.
we do have a lot of immigrants from non-christian backgrounds... trouble is that christmas is very divorced from religion here... it is just a... social occasion. so even the immigrants pick up the non-religious celebratory part of that and tend to have a social feast and profit from the shopping sales. especially because the weather is all warm.
it really is surpurflous in this part of the world. it isn't like 'oh, people are all sad because of the winter famine lets get them together round the fire and stuff ourselves on the food reserves that are starting to go bad anyway'. it is spring already... so people are already in happy summer mode... school is out for the year... most people take their annual leave round about now (which is how come the whole f*ck*ng country fairly much goes into lockdown) we don't need a f*ck*ng social occasion.
june / july sucks pretty bad... could use a christmas round about then... perhaps...
