i wondered why this hadn't made bigger headlines. but... he was old. and had been very sick for a while now.
i have faint memories of kiwis boycotting the springboks rugby tour in protest of apartheid.
i find it... interesting? (is that the word) how separate sovereignties (what some maaori say they want for maaori in nz) is different from aparteid. if, in fact, it is.
i guess there is all the difference in the world between being forced to do something (remain separate, integrate) and having the option.
