Yes, Sigismund, he did have ECT as a corrective measure in his early adolescence.
His death has hit me pretty hard. His work w/ the Velvets is what got me through high school. His solo work - specifically his work in the 80's where he is brutally honest about living life without alcohol - has got me through my 20's and sobriety (thus far).
For comical relief, I always listen to "Take No Prisoners". It's Lou live in 78' at his absolute worst. Just complete meltdown and toying with/talking to the crowd.
Even at his worst no one could come close to him, "You give me an issue, I'll give you a tissue. And you can wipe your *ss with it." Mind you, this double lp live album was recorded over a week of concerts.
