And when I read books, that's kinda what I feel like, or doing things im not thrilled to do. When I was Dexedrine it changed things, but that's out of the picture, and have to adapt to normal function without psychostimulants.

Reading a book a week was just a suggestion. There might be other manageable, measurable routines that are more in tune with your personality. That's why I suggested you talk about this in therapy. Maybe you and your therapist can brainstorm small changes you can make that would make you feel more competent. That's the key here -- to feel more competent. When I was really depressed, I felt incompetent and my husband said - to feel competent you need to do something that you're competent at. So I forced myself to getup and cook a meal.

Maybe that's something you would like doing -- cooking, cleaning, drawing, journaling, crafts of some sort, gardening, yard work, painting either art or a fence. There are lots of changes you can make in your life. You just need to identify simple, one-at-a-time changes rather than decide you're going to completely change your life all at once. The latter is so daunting and so hard to know where or how to start, that it almost always doesn't work.

It's like making New Year resolutions. If you say, I'm going to lose weight and get in shape, it's almost inevitable that you'll fail. If you say instead - I'm going to start walking three miles four times a week -- that's a manageable, measurable goal that will move you toward the bigger goal.
