If they're bad or good. People also do want war from time to time when life is too boring. And after bad experiences people do want again freedom... this is like a life cycle. Do you think politics is able to solve real human problems like the destruction of the environment and overpopulation? Stephan Hawking thought that only a gene therapy could save the human being by thinking more rational and not to behave with predominant instinct genes. My observation is that the human being has a very destructive nature not comparable with any other species.
