My son might get into a school around here. He is dyslexic and just very different. His educational therapist says his mind works brilliantly, just very differently. He also has a large personality. His latest accomplishments are learning to die as realistically as possible and mastering the laughter of an evil scientist. He his running around in a skeleton costume as I type.
This school is a converted farm. The kids actually walk around free in between lessons. They teach circus arts.
They have a full professional drum kit that kids can actually play. Hard. They can build dams and canals and get very dirty. There are chickens and goats and a pig. A real sait boat is sunken in the play yard to climb. So far, they seem to like him. The circus/performing arts instructor and him seem simpatico.
He was kicked out of the local Steiner school (thank
goodness, really), and I have home schooled the last year to the near death of me. I have shopped for schools (holy crap) and always felt that wherever we went, he'd have to restrain his personality.He isn't aggressive (any more than the next person, maybe
less) but so energetic and socialble. You might recall that I have been said to have social phobia. Not so great a fit :-/I am praying this goes through. I could almost cry. (Well, I
have.). Anyone who has had a child, maybe one that doesn't
fit but is magnificent in their parents' eyes, might have experienced some of this.I would love to see him ride one of those unicycles. They have about 25 there and perform in parades every year. He can start archery.
