Caregivers 'R' Us

Posted by 64Bowtie on July 11, 2010, at 13:18:36

Caregivers 'R' Us??? Naaahh!!!

What do I do when I have made myself into something I am good at, that is mostly opposing an incidental short-term calling???

I have recently become caregiver for my 89 year old Dad who has a history of (instituionalised) mental illness... Between his contemporaries dieing off and my siblings being 2000 miles away in different directions, he really has no-one else...

Also, during the last Administration, elderly issues were left to "the fox watching the hen house"... Its as if he was being devoured by money grubber people of non-existant scrupples... Of course its elder-abuse, but he will be gone before anything can be done on his behalf, so no wants to help...

My nexus is that I am not made right to be a good baby-sitter for someone so cantankerous, and otherwise unwilling... When I find folks who are a mixture of the defiance of a 2 yearold and the arrogant demanding of a deposed diety, who is driven by "shoulds" and "don'ts", living up to obligations and expectations, from a viewpoint of testimonial faith and beliefs unsupported by information, created by distorted intuition and opinions, clearly they deserve a better baby-sitter than me...

I clearly hear the sound of drums, telling me of my life passing me by, again... An unfortunate echo of my tragic youth, missing only my fear of the unknown... This time I see the outline of the tragedy aimed right at me, and no new results...
