i liked that story , or was it a book, i have had loads of working dogs ,an loved an been loved by them all.1 dog i bred as a pup was the last to be bought , he was on his own with his mum an i said to ruth im keeping him, his name was tug as my terrier dogs all pull, they are constantly looking for rats an anything really.anyway he settled in with buster my sons kids , an was soon wearing strange clothing an takeing it like man. but as tug grew, i saw a warrior behond compair in him. never looking for a fight , but when it happened it happend. he was a fastest fighter than hagler, he took on an won all contenders even bullterriers.i have watch big macho guys humiliated as tug reducted there fighting machines into submision, an been threatened by them myself for making them look foolish,All the time loveing me an the kids.death before dishonor was tugs motto.then one day i saw him in distress scratching himself raw.i looked for the usual fleas but no he had a alergy.the vet gave him the usual crap shampoo,s an did scrapes, but nothing, he said we may never find the cause even if he had hundreds of tests.he had to have steriods as the last resort,he would get better for a while then down he would go , more steriods by this time they were killing him,the vet didnt say put him to sleep but i new he wanted me to.Not tug the gladiator i told ruth he will come good, but he didnt an he became grumpy with constant irritation, ruth put him on his lead an took him to the park.A guy we no pulled up on his bike an tug bit him on the leg , he then bit him again on the leg, his frustration at his illness an the instinct to protect ruth took him over the edge. they came home i put him back on the lead an walked to the vets,he walked in never looked back as they took him,as if he had let me down,im glad i wrote this as i am in bits,,,,,,, an i never greived for him. TUG my gladiator an best friend.r,i.p
