the best way to make friends... and it sounds too simple, but just be yourself. we all have are quirky ways but that is what makes us interesting and likable. the more you can relax, and realize that everyone is insecure in their own way, the easier it is. Age become much less important and I wouldn't let that bother you, I am friends with people of many ages.
The best way to meet people is to join groups, to be open to meeting people and letting them in, to be relaxed and smile, and to not care and worry about what they are thinking.you are you and you should want to be accepted as you.
get out there and join some groups and make some new friends! :)
