Yeah, you're right Dinah. There should be other ways to repay her. It will be hard to find them though.
Recently my sister tried to repay my Mom by buying her a new refrigerator. Our old one was sounding funny and using a lot of electricity. It was about $800. Well, my Mom got the fridge on her birthday and then she went ahead and put $1000 in cash on my sister's desk the next day.
My sister has moved out without taking the $1000, and now it is just sitting there in her room.
I also have a stack of about $200 in my room, also from my Mom, for me to buy textbooks. It too is just siting in my room.
My Mom also gave my sister a whole bunch of stuff for her new apartment, and cooks meals for her to take home etc. I think my Mom misses my sister.
I just hate that my Mom is always sacrificing so much for us.
It would make her really happy if I get my degree though. The best thing I can do for myself is get my degree by spring and find a government job.
There is just no way to really repay my parents. They gave us so much. I think if I started doing chores around the house and did things that showed I cared, that my Mom would be really happy.
So far I have cleaned up the living room and it feels really good. I can start by washing dishes.
