What is the job situation where you are right now? Didn't you have a relative you worked summers with? I know it might not be pleasant work, but at least it would get you out among people who aren't your immediate family.
Volunteering starts Monday, you said? And lasts a week? That sounds like a lot of fun, and maybe a chance to find out more about other opportunities.
I'm sorry if I was irritable in my reply earlier. I was dwelling a bit on the sadness of loss.
