I think solo trips are great as long as you are okay with it - depends on how you feel about your
aloneness. I, myself, love having the freedom to do whatever I want when I'm alone...but, then,
there are times when I'm lonely and I want to share the experience with others.I go through phases where I'm a real social butterfly, and then I get disgusted and drained with all
the formalities, pomp and circumstance, and what-not. That's when I go under the radar to regroup,
and try to get my semi-sanity back.Right now, I'm working on a trip where I can have both. I'm looking at guided trips through REI and
local hike clubs. You can mingle with people from all over the country(hopefully reasonable, tolerable,
and maybe even fun), but have the nights to yourself if you want.I don't know if guided trips are your thing, but it might be worth looking into. I used to be repulsed by
visuals of random people congregating around the tour bus with cameras around their necks, but REI
adventure trips look really cool. Just look at "Italy:Cinque Terre Hike" -
http://www.rei.com/adventures/trips/europe/italy_cinque.htmlWhat a change of channel this would be!!! One could finance such a trip by not seeing their T for 6 months.
Freelancing, 30's, no kids -sounds great to me! Dive into your savings - it's only money!
Do it while you can! I say go for it and have fun - whatever you decide!I would love to hear what you end up doing!
