The veterinarian is the person who put the three years on her. Who knows? With love and good care, she might have more than that. I can't remember how old she is now. I'll ask.

It's really hard going into it knowing that all you can do is make what time she has as special as possible. But if you can draw that line in the sand for yourself, what could be more fulfilling than helping give a dog the best three years of her life?

I would like to help her, Dinah. The rescue people aren't going to be able to keep her forever there. I know that her temperament would be good. The rescue organizer told me that she was a happy dog.

Some dogs never do regain the ability to bond, some end up as fear biters, and some have other temperament problems. Health problems are plenty enough to hurdle. If she has attachment problems, three years may not be enough time to overcome that.

She sleeps with the organizer's cats and loves children. One of the volunteer has a baby and then there are two more in grade school and she has loved on all of them. I have the cats and grandchildren.

The group will pay all of her medical bills. She has been spayed, flea treated and her shots are all up to date.

Thank you for your input.
