Flooded in More Ways than One

Posted by verne on March 11, 2009, at 11:56:46

Backyard flooded. Cedar and Crow creeks over the bank and a few streets impassable. I'm on high ground but have a nice view of the lake.

Disowned by my daughter for the umpteenth time in as many years. An umpteen is how long is takes to put Humpty Dumpty back together again.

Further complicated by my granddaughter. I babysat (no charge of course) hundreds of hours and she's now 7 1/2 months old. My living room looks like a daycare center.

My son-in-law said they don't need another child - me, and is bringing over the keys this afternoon. We are doing an exchange.

I wasn't even drinking, when, last Sunday, my son-in-law decided I was a "jerk" because I got a little cranky after 4 hours of babysitting, just made a bottle, and so forth. Whole "incident" lasted less than 30 seconds and I only asked what to do with the bottle. He also said Kyra was crying uncontrollably for a half hour and blamed me.

He further added our telephone conversation was being recorded and he would call the police if I didn't turn over their internet passwords (I let them do all their internet shopping and online banking on my computer). I only asked for the $1,300 they owe me for online bills paid out of my account.

I just got Kyra's glockenspiel and talking alphabet fridge magnets yesterday. Breaks my heart. We have a strong bond.

I was sober for nearly six months and behaved myself even when I drank. Only drank once when I had 4 days off.

Son-in-law is coming over this afternoon so I'm drinking just to cope. Ugh. Having the brew delivered any minute, to sick to walk in. Almost noon in Iowa.

I hate my life.
