Well, if you have a spiritual community of some sort, several of my single friends have set out to meet mates that way with great success.
Other than that, those classes you were talking about might be good. :)
Or clubs. Gathering together to share a joint purpose is a good way to meet other people of like minds. Same with volunteering for charities or politicians you admire.
I haven't tried to date since school, but we've found some couple friends in that way. And couple friends may be harder to find than dates.
