Snow is a big deal in New Orleans. It snowed today! Not just a light frosting of it either, but over the top of my foot snow. Lightly packed I admit.
Unfortunately it started about five minutes after my son was dropped off for school. But once it started everything ground to a halt. I worked for the first bit, but when we lost our power I didn't have much I could do. So I and my youngest dog, (a year old Christmas Eve) went and frolicked in the snow. It was her first time, so I had to coax her out. But once she was out she loved it and came and pounced on my feet and nipped my ankles until she'd herded me out too.
I was bad and unpacked the new Christmas camera, because my old point and shoot was too slow to capture her. I love it! I had forgotten how much *fun* a camera could be, when it actually takes pictures as you press the button. I'll pack it back up and wrap it, but it was an emergency!
It did me good. I had to cancel therapy because of the roads. But I think this was maybe more therapeutic. I feel like a new person and realize how horribly narrow my focus gets when I'm stressed at work.
The power's back, and I need to get to work. I'm so sleeeepy. All that good cold fresh air.
I wish it would snow more often. Not blizzards or anything. But it was crisp rather than cold, and it was even more refreshing as my new peppermint soap.
I hope they let the kids make a snowman. The first snow in his lifetime where you didn't have to scrape up the snow, and snowmen weren't generously peppered with pebbles, grass, etc. I don't suppose it was snow angel deep. But I think a classful of kids could make a decent snowman.
