On my soapbox grrrrrrrrrrrrr rant,

Posted by happyflower on November 3, 2008, at 19:52:49

Today at my internship, the one that I help the poor with getting jobs, basic life skills, and help pay utility bills, etc. Well this single mom came in who has 2 school age kids with no disabilities or job for help. She needs help with her water bill which we can help part of. But she needs to go to another agency for the rest. Well she didn't want to do that, it takes too much time. Then she asked if we give out clothing vouchers because her son needs shoes and a coat. No we don't do that currently, but this other agency does, gave her the address and info. Well she says, but I have to get up early and stand in line for a long time.
I am thinking to myself, well I got up early to help your butt this morning, all for free.
Then we wanted to set up an appointment to help find her job, and she wasn't interested, she said she was too busy.
Now I see a lot of people I help that I can tell really appreciate it. This lady wouldn't even get up early to get her son a coat, get help with finding a job, and didn't want to go to another agency to help pay her water bill. What is wrong with some people????

Then I am dealing with college kids who are in an honor society group as officers like me. I am in charge of fundraiser and have spend hours working on different things. They don't show up for meetings, they don't respond to my emails I send, and yet they get testy when I say this group needs to get it together. They want to build a house for Habitat for Humanity, but I we can't even get the officers together to decide on a simple fundraiser. We couldn't even build a Lincoln log house together, lol.
It is so frustrating to work my *ss off for those who don't care.
