Shiratake Noodles or Shirataki noodles

Posted by WaterSapphire on September 17, 2008, at 14:59:07

I am wondering here if anyone has tried them. I have read mixed reviews and people either love them or hate them. They are a noodle made from a type of yam or tuber called konjac. Sometimes they have tofu added to them. They virtually are tasteless, and some people say they are rubbery. Low carbers and those on a diet have utilized these things and they have even been called "miracle noodles" They are a Japanese noodle and can be found at some health food stores and Asian markets. I would have to probably order them online. They are high in fiber, and essentially have very low calories and no true carbs. If anyone here has had them, let me know. I know they supposedly have a fishy smell to them unless you wash and boil them really good. There is no fish in them though. It is the solution they are packaged in. They are supposed to be very healthy.

Anyways...
Hope you are all well

Chelle
