Dave, this is ClearSkies - I changed my posting name back to what it used to be because I'm not feeling very sunny any more.
Do not involve yourself with Slinky's mother or the rest of her family - for your own sake. I fully understand that you need to process your grief and that it's become an extremely difficult time.
But let this be your time, and yours alone. Slinky is beyond her family's grasp - it's only the earthly belongings that they are attempting to control now that she is gone. Which is really quite sad. But don't let this interfere with the affection you feel for Slinky. If anything, I think you have a greater understanding of what she went through for all those years.
