When I read your first post, I felt a bit -- it's hard for me to put it into words, but I felt as though you were saying there was ONE path to the answer, and I resented that. That's only my reaction, and I may have been primed for that sort of thing based on what the last few days have brought in my life. Still, I know when I post here, I try to be careful not to say what someone should do -- only to suggest possibilities I think would be helpful. I do that to try to be sensitive to others who've found something else to be more helpful.

For one thing, "Native American" is as specific as "Asian" or "Caucasian." There were many, many tribes, all of which had very different cultures and practices. Some tribes may have lived more spiritual lives, some may have lived in harmony with the natural world -- and it's now known that many tribes devastated their natural resources as completely as some groups do today. That idea of living in perfect harmony with nature is a myth, and it's not even a very old myth.

I'm sure there are many paths to the ultimate truth. What Tolle says may not work for some people. There are many other spiritual practices that give people peace. I just have a feeling that these paths lead to the same place. There are many practices that work to give people peace. But when I look at the stars at night I feel were all heading towards the same truth.
