My advice would be, wait 6 months, or even 2 months and do more research if you want, but wait some time and if you still have a burning desire to have larger ear holes, then do it. But don't do it on a whim.
And out of curiosity, do you often wear earrings now? I recommend seriously thinking out any decisions that would alter your appearance in any way, because those sort of things can not be reversed and I would hate to see you 20 years from now embarrassed by your ear lobes and spending thousands to get reconstructive surgery! A tatoo on the back can be hidden, but its not as easy to hide the ears.
Just think about it. As extreme as that may sound, we change sooooo much with time and it is very unfortunate when we cant take things back.
