I love D.C. Since it's Labor Day weekend, you might want to check out what will and will not be open. It would be a bummer if the only day you can visit sights/exhibits is the day you arrive.
I don't know ... but maybe preparing that ahead of time could help planning.
Enjoy! Even spending an afternoon on the "mall" with a picnic lunch and a frisbee or kite flying is lots of fun.
