Babblemail Sucker Punch

Posted by verne on April 21, 2007, at 18:38:57

I recevied this babblemail from a deputy of all people:

"Dear verne,
I apologize for misunderstanding your earlier post containing your apology. It certainly seemed straightforward to me, but I apparently interpreted beyond what was there, not an uncommon thing on the internet."

I'm done with this site. (again) If deputies are allowed to send snide and sarcastic babblemails then I can't be safe here. In fact, I should have known better and not have opened it. She knew it wouldn't fly on the public board so she chose to slip in a sucker-punch via personal babblemail.

Once again, I see the same abuses by the deputies that led to my last *voluntary* banishment. In fact, I've seen blocks and PBC's in the last week given to *outsider* males, deputies would never dream giving to their female *insider* friends. Actually, I had trouble even finding an infraction in most cases. I still don't know what Michael did to get warned and blocked. (one example among many)

Sexism is alive and well on Babble. Civility is seen and interpreted through a sexist filter that is hyper-aware of any sort of male-typical incivility, yet let's less direct personal attacks by those of the female persuasion, slide. (BTW, I'm not being sexist by recognizing the difference between genders - it really does exist)

I'm not accusing all women of being indirect or suggesting all men are cavemen. But there are usually, but not always, different styles in the way we are uncivil. I don't like it especially - it just is. I see zero tolerance for one style and free rein given to ther other. (is that free "reign" or "rein"?)

Recalibrate the bias, please. No more reindeer games for me.

Goodbye all

Verne
