Hi, kk. How nice of you to write a poem for me. Especially one where you call me a bum. Those are my all-time favorites. ;)

I wish I had better news. My mom has thyroid cancer. They're giving her a very good prognosis, but she needs to have surgery in the next couple or few weeks and, while my sisters will help, she's already leaning on me a ton. Not to mention she's scheduled for back surgery in the summer and she's going to need a lot of help with that.

My sister was in the hospital for two days with an infection of the lining of her heart. She'll be okay, too.

Two of my dad's friends passed away in the past two weeks and it's made me think a lot about my dad.

My son flew off a swing from about five feet up in the air and landed on his rear end. He's okay, too, but still sore. He's trying to claim he can't do his homework because his butt hurts. I don't really know that I can argue with him on that one. ;)

I got a flat tire and ruined my rim. And my passenger mirror is broke and is going to be $700 to fix.

I got ticked at Beefcake and sent him an email telling him I'm mad at him. He called and that helped, but I have to admit, I think it's going to take a little while to clear the air.

And I'm up to my eyeballs with work. You know, that thing they make me and kid do in between naps.

BUT...

My mom is going to be okay.

So is my sister.

My son is still wonderful.

My husband and I are healthy.

My car will be all fixed soon.

Beefcake and I will work everything out.

And work is work. My biggest project will be done in early April and then they'll let me go back to sleep.

Thanks for asking about me. Sorry I haven't been around. Next time I show up with a chocolate cake, it'll have a ring baked into it. I promise.

Lots of hugs to you and the duckie,
Laurie
