thanks for congrats. This presentation was pretty easy, because I'm confident in my data and I know that my project is pretty new, so it's not like I'm trying to argue that Einstein was all wrong or something. I'm just breaking new ground, rather than refuting existing theories.
Kath, the weather while we were there was GORGEOUS. a little cool at night (high 50s?0 and about 75 and sunny during the day. They had fireworks too for some kind of international fireworks thingy. throngs of well-behaved people. "everyone be polite please" was what the police and security folks were saying as we crushed through the downtown to get back to our hotel. Didn't see the fireworks, but went to eat salmon instead.
Thank GOD I had the buttertarts. I didn't have time to buy food in my 20 minute connection between the international terminal and the domestic flight at LAX. got so lost. had to cut through lines of people who were waiting for security screening. I kept my cool. annoying woman behind me is freaking out and saying. We have a flight at 1:30 it's really important. do you mind if I ? ... in her urgent panicky voice. I calmly said "i have a flight at 12:55, so i have priority, but I'll try to be as fast as possible. and was assertive in placing my stuff in front of her stuff on the security scan conveyor belt.
got a meeting now!
