I'm from an ethnic minority and I don't experience discrimination much. But, then again I haven't had many experiences out in the world yet. I do remember kids used to make fun of my language a lot. I grew up in a pretty diverse city and school so it wasn't too bad. I almost never thought of myself as being different.
I have to admit that my Dad is sometimes a little intolerant of certain races and it is sad. Racism goes both ways.
> And I reckon it's a really difficult thing to talk about, because most people don't want to imagine themselves as oppressors (or oppressed). But I think it sometimes has to be talked about, because if it remains a hidden topic, how is anything going to change?I think we have to realize that we are all the same and we are all different. No one fits neatly into any group.
I'm ranting alongside you! :-)
