Hi Matt,
I recently had this issue come up. If an adult child who is on parents' insurance wants to get treatment but does not want the parents to know, HIPAA laws allow the adult child to request that the Explanation of Benefits (EOB's) be sent to another address versus to the home.

You could get treatment and call the insurance company to request they send EOB's for you directly to you, perhaps at a school address or a post office box? As an adult, you are entitled to your privacy as far as protected health information, regardless of who pays for the insurance.

Good luck,

gg
