Anyone else looking for a job?

I started my formal job search in October 2004 after being a stay-at-home mom since 2000. The job market in rural N. Michigan is terrible! I'm looking for work with pre-schoolers and/or anything else I can do with my BS in English and may end up doing licensed child care in my home since my youngest child just turned two. I was ist runner up for a job as a medical receptionist in September. I was in pre-nursing in college for a year, so health care would work too.
How is it in the rest of the world right now? What kinds of jobs are hot? Are you working AND looking? What to do!?
