Don't forget the pets

Posted by Dinah on September 4, 2005, at 10:47:08

The human toll is awful, but many of those who safely evacuated left their pets at home with food and water, locked in garages, or in back yards. I've had to bite my tongue many times at people who evacuated in cars saying they had no choice but to leave their pets behind. The hotels are bending their rules to take them, and if they had a car, I just don't understand. My pets are part of my family.

The humane society is going in, but I am not sure what they're going to be able to do.

I've been giving money at Petsmart. It doesn't feel like enough to do, but I don't know what else I *can* do.
