Hello All, I feel like I am in a terrible bind. My stepfather has narcissistic Personality Disorder (I know)... and when I got divorced a few years ago, I needed the help of him and my mom to get back on my feet. He actually rented me an apt, got me a car and offered me a job working for him. Things were fine at first. Then, I met a man, fell in love and got married. He of course, didnt like losing CONTROL over me, so there has been some obsticles since then. He thinks he has me trapped right now, like I work for him (make good money) and have the car that is technically his.
So, If I was to tell him where to go, I would be out of a job and have no car. For the most part I can deal with him. I know he's crazy and I try to ignor him. But he has to butt into my life, like tell me what to do, or how to raise my daughter. (i did damn well on my own)!!
Take today for example, my daughter has been staying here (my parents home & where i work) because her cousins are visiting from another state. All three are teenagers, and at first he was cool, telling them to ride jet ski's and golf carts etc. But, today, my daughter and neice asked him if they can go to the neighborhood clubhouse to eat, and he said he would go with them tomorrow. And they both whispered, "we dont want to go w/ you"..(which is typical with a teenager, thats how they are!!) duhh... but he freaks out and yells "After all I do for you girls, you treat me like this! You are both sarcastic and unappreciative!" This is coming from a 59 yr old man...Then he comes back, and yells for my neice to get off HIS computer and tells them thay cant ride his golf cart nor jet ski's..But this was yelling like a child would do if he didnt get his way.
I hate they way he intimidates people, even me. I hate answering my phone when he calls, because you never know what mood he is in, hateful or nice.
I just dont know what the answer is. Another thing is I decided to put my daughter in a diff. school this year. (she was going to private w/a bunch of stuck up girls) Anyway, when I tell them (he and my mom) this, they will freak out. And be all dramatic and say my child will never suceed in life by going to a public school..blah blah...But, the sad thing is that, my stepdad will do everything possible to make it hard for her to go to the new school. Like tell me I cant take a lunch to get her, or something like that. But It was ok for me to drive 26 miles to get her and drop her off at the private school!!
Does anyone have any advise?
