Shoes, yes, I have shoes. Last week, in fact, I acquired many more shoes.
My now late best redheaded friend and I shared a love of shoes. We both had dozens of pairs. She was talking to her daughter once about my shoes, and said something about not understanding why I had so many pairs of black shoes. Her daughter replied, "But they're all different *shades* of black!"
My friend died last month. Her daughter had me come over to help go through her shoes, since I was one of the few people who could share shoes with her. My friend was 4'10", I am (well, was until I started shrinking) 5'9". She wore a 5 1/2 or 6, I wear a 6 or 6 1/2. I have a huge bag in the living room as I type, filled with shoes. Some I can and will wear, but others remind me so strongly of my friend that I have them to look at and hold when I miss her.
I love shoes. From my black and white Spalding saddle oxfords, which I bought in 1979 and still sometimes wear; to my black T-strap Capezio tap shoes that I wore to work nearly every day for years (no taps on them, but they were the most comfortable heels I've ever owned -- no surprise, since they're professional dancing shoes, and those dancers need well crafted footwear); to the black Steve Madden sandals with chunky heels; to the various heels I wore to work; to my over-the-knee, nosebleed high heeled Nana boots; to my little, flat, woven green suede Cole Haan mules; to my beloved semi-custom Effingham field boots; right on down to my every-day Ariat zip up paddock bootss. I love my shoes.
By the way, in case anyone wondered, I love shoes.
