No Susan it doesn't. Evolution is very short sighted, it just preserves what works best now. And then old stuff that may have outlived its function may get appropriated to a new function. Dennett calls our brains a 'kludge' which is supposed to be an alternative to Chomsky's seeing cognitive architecture as 'crystaline' with a few deep inexorable laws, and a 'hack' (which some comp. scientists were starting to think) which is lacking in order altogether... But that is another story ;-) and you don't really want to get me started now...

But sure tv is a social activity. I mean, my sim peoples do pretty well with watching tv together and talking at the same time. Fun and social see?

But I don't much like the old telly to tell you the truth. Don't really watch it except for the simpsons. And scrubs. And Chicago Hope. And ER. And those crime shows. Okay. So maybe I do watch a little after all ;-)

But I don't know when anything is on...

I'd rather read.
