Thanks guys :-)

Still, I have a perfect excuse to shy out of the 'I agree to be a fully participating member of the hostel community' clause on my contract ;-)

Now the issue is car alarms. Out of a grand total of 7 nights in the hostel 3 nights sleep have been disturbed with car alarms going off. I have enough difficulty sleeping without being woken by a car alarm at 3 in the morning.

Apparantly they do go off quite a lot. Affects everyone on my side of the building. Nobody turns them off, they just kind of peter out themselves after 20 minutes or so.

I went to have a whine and she said 'count yourself lucky that the pub on the other side of the carpark closes at 9.30 now. It was 3.30 last year. You can hear the music quite loudly. And the drunken rabble at closing time.

No way no way no way.
The burden is on student accomodation services to provide us with a reasonable living space. That frequency of car alarms (and indeed 3.30 pub closing) is UNREASONABLE in my not so humble opinion.

I thought the parking space was for hostel residents - but no. It is general parking space that may have been contracted out to the pub (I shall have to check).

This is reminding me of the campaigning I used to do at school for such things as being able to wear yellow laces in our doc martin school shoes, and being allowed to have our socks slouched and being allowed to have our shirts (of reasonable length) untucked. Hmm...

I am fond of a cause ever now and then...

Off to the student union I go...

;-)
