I was 14 years old, at home recovering from having my appendix out and had decided to cross reference our 20 years' worth of National Geographic magazines. (Hmm, sounds like my OCD goes back quite a ways.) My dad had made the bookcase that housed the magazines back in the (ahem) 60's. It was covered in a gross "looks just like wood" laminate, and there was a strip along the front of the bookcase that was separating from the case itself. So I thought, gee, while I am cross referencing the magazines I might as well fix the bookcase! And that is how I came to glue myself. I had to wait a long time for someone to come home so they could fetch the nail polish remover that didn't work...

BTW did you know that every year the National Geographic publishes a cross reference of each month's magazine by subject matter? Me neither. No wonder it seemed like such a good idea.
