> Has this ever happened to anyone? Just a week or so ago, I actually thought I was in love with the guy who just broke up with me. Now that feeling is gone, like I recovered my senses. That feeling seems almost like a "condition". It still hurts that it didn't work out between us, and I feel utterly lonely and depressed, but it's not so much about him individually now. It's my general loneliness, like I had before I met him. I think my feelings for him had more to do with me than with him.

Yes, this is indeed a side-effect of depression..I know it too well. I'll be going along on dates and stuff, very easy and casual, and then it's like *bang*...it's over! I am usually not the one who breaks up a relationship, but I have had to in some very dysfunctional ones. (i.e. "sex" friends)

One of the major problems is that I think t.v. has put this illusion in our head that we can have our cake and eat it too..that commitment is like changing underwear or something like that. People don't realise they are partly responsible for what they say and do even in just a dating situation. Nothing worst than a mind f**k (pardon the french..;-).

Just be yourself...and when someone is comfortable with that notion about them and you, then I think you have a healthy relationship!

Anyhow...sorry for going off-topic a bit..but I really understand what you are saying.

Best,
Dr. Jay (Well, I play one on t.v...lol)
