>Been pretty busy lately. I've been moving my stuff to the new place, cleaning, fixing things up in the new place, and helping my roommate get ready for a party tomorrow.
>Today, I sewed four seat cussions, did some errands, spent some time with my daughter, and for a first.... I let the mother know that I'm not happy with either of the parents.
>I was at their house, and my daughter wanted to show my roommate something. My neice wanted to go along, and the (I hate saying 'my') mother said that she would go along if my neice wanted to. I told her never mind, and told my neice that Mallory would be back later. The mother asked what the problem was.... didn't I want her to see the new place. I told her that the problem was that she didn't trust my neice with me.
>Well, the mother says "If I didn't trust you I wouldn't let Mallory go". I responded with "You don't have a choice.... She's MY daughter".
>For those of you who don't know me, that was a high point in my ability to assert myself. Strangely enough, after this, the mother seemed a bit nicer. Who knows.... maybe there is hope in the world for Dee.
>Dee.

Dee,

You rock!! What a stand to take and how powerful to have done that without 'the mother' crumbling or pulling one of her old stunts.

You are the very epitome of a parent. You are a good mother to yours and nothing can take that from you. You learned good parenting despite the lack of it you had growing up.

I am so proud of you for asserting yourself so clearly!!

I believe in a world with hope for Dee. You've already found another place to live and that alone has to be such a freeing feeling with that kind of breathing room.

Let me know when you're settled in and if I'm able to take that long trip this Sept. I'll send or bring you a housewarming from the maritimes. Every kitchen needs something wacky from the weird eastern canadians out there on the water. ; )

You done good hon! You done real good!!
