It's Spring - I must do a 10!

Posted by All Done on April 16, 2004, at 12:32:43

10. I love Spring! The weather is great today, the sun is shining, and we have our office windows open. I’ll get to wear sandals this weekend and take my little guy to the park. Along the way, he’ll point out ducks (his favorite), clouds, trees, bikes, cars, birds, his neighbor friend, dogs, basketball hoops, babies in strollers, and the sun. His vocabulary changes everyday and he never ceases to amaze me.

9. My husband has been out of town all week and last night my son woke up crying, so I brought him into the “big bed” with me. He managed to turn sideways and hog the bed worse than his Daddy does. But even with the dog at my feet and my son’s feet at my nose, we still managed to sleep through the rest of the night.

8. Chicago. Museums. Navy Pier. Michigan Avenue. Lincoln Park. Great food. Friendly people (yes, we are here. You just might have to look a little). Shopping. The zoo. The Lake.

7. Good friends getting together in Vegas. Does it get any better than that?

6. Now, you may all say “not this again”, but I have to. Calculator watches! Yes, you heard me. I, like KK I believe, have officially changed my position on the calculator watch. You see, when I was in Vegas, I saw a terrible lounge act with a guitar player to whom I found myself oddly attracted. He was *so* not my usual “type”. Leather pants and a jacket with a sleeveless t-shirt underneath. I wondered why I was so drawn, and then I saw it – the calculator watch! He was so sexy my head was spinning (umm, the liquor had nothing to do with it). Transference you suggest? Never. Hey, kid! You have a pair of leather pants you could wear???

5. Cultivating a new friendship. Finding things in common. Finding things not in common. Long, honest conversations. Learning, laughing, and sharing.

4. *Warning* – yet another Mommy story follows. My son made up a new game with his pacifier all by himself. It’s called “Where’s the Binky?” He hides his binky (usually under the blanket that’s on his lap) and asks “binky?” Then, he holds his palms up, shakes his head, and says, “don’t know” in the cutest voice ever. He pulls is out, holds it up and laughs hysterically. I found him playing this with our dog the other day. She doesn’t know where the binky is either.

3. I didn’t burn my house down the other day. The handle of a knife started on fire as I was making dinner, but I found it and put it out before any real damage was done. Lesson learned – remove all knives from anywhere near the burner because the heat alone can start the fire.

2. Slowly feeling a little better each day. (Maybe it’s the Lexapro?) Knowing that each day has the potential to be better than the last. Knowing each decade *has* been better than the last. Anticipating positive changes and my own growth but enjoying what I have today. Finding that not one thing fulfills me, but many things do. Happiness can be found in so many different places and the nice thing is, we can never have too much.

1. Woohoo! It’s Friday and I love Fridays!
