they get hair and makeup appointments, but they are denied access to books, magazines, TV, and internet. They all have to live together to provide maximum chance for little catfights, until it's down to the last few women.

The prize is just a man. If they're lucky, he proposes at the end and they get a big honkin' Harry Winston ring. The first one didn't even propose, he flashed the ring at her and said he might give it to her someday, and invited her to move to his city so they could keep dating. Some prize.

Didn't you get exposed to the hoopla surrounding Trista and Ryan's wedding? They were the first couple that actually got married. On that one it was one woman, a bunch of guys.

Hey have you heard of 'wedding porn'? It's the literary genre started by Jane Austin, surviving today as Bridget Jones and much of the chick lit stuff, where the whole point is marriage and a big wedding. I think it's a funny phrase. Well the Bachelor is pure wedding porn.

Oh, and I watched it. It was 2 hours long. It's agonizing because like half of it is little teasers about what's coming up, and what happened last week, and what's going to happen in the upcoming weeks. There's like 20 minutes of content sretched to 2 hours. The host is very robotlike and keeps repeating the same phrases in every show. 'The most shocking rose ceremony yet' comes up a lot. I personally giggle every time a contestant says 'it's getting really hard'. Or 'it's getting so much harder'. Or 'I never knew how hard it would get'. Cause you see, they keep saying it, and it's a sexual innuendo, but they don't seem to notice.
