zazen for zen

Posted by shar on March 6, 2004, at 16:32:54

A cryptic title? So befitting this post to honor (although belatedly) Zenhussy's birthday!

Happy Birthday, Zen! You are younger than my son, finer than frog's hair, an angel in disguise, and so very sorely missed!

I looked for a zen quote, and saw a bunch. My favorite, though, was just a little one and not attributed to a person; it seems to me to sum up zen and Zen quite nicely and with a touch of humor:

"This is this!"

Of course, I couldn't leave out a quote for the hussy part, so from Mae West:

"Between two evils, I always pick the one I never tried before."

xoxo

Oh the comfort, the inexpressible comfort of feeling safe with a person, having neither to weigh thoughts nor measure words, but pouring them all right out, just as they are--chaff and grain together--certain that a faithful hand will take and sift them, keep what is worth keeping, and with the breath of kindness blow the rest away...-- Dinah Mulock
