I just want to say that I used to date the obnoxious guys. It took a lot of maturing on my part before I could recognize what the nice, good men had to offer. Now I am married to one. I don't know if I would have been attracted to him had I met him years earlier. So there is hope, I believe.
Also, I wonder if the time of year has anything to do with it. I was at the mall last Saturday night, and all the Valentine's Day stuff was out. I felt lonely because I was there by myself. I think it serves as an unfortunate reminder.
Last, as a couple who often invite single friends out to join us, PLEASE do not feel like a fifth wheel. I know we invite our friends out because we truly enjoy spending time with them, whether they are single or attached. If I felt like they would be an intrusion, I wouldn't invite them for that particular outing (such as a romantic dinner with my husband).
